Gamescom 2012 has been kind to fans eagerly awaiting Assassin’s Creed 3, with no shortage of details and story hints....

Essentially the $100 price tag comes as a result of the encyclopedia’s inclusion, which retails on its own for $50. [HTML1] After making more than a bit of a splash at E3 2012, the developers of Assassin’s Creed 3 have earned a brief respite from the concerns of skeptics - what few there still might be. The team at Ubisoft had previously released a behind-the-scenes video on the demo being constructed for the show, only to arrive with three distinct, yet equally impressive gameplay sections. The snow-swept woods of the Frontier demo have now been re-released, accompanied by Creative Director Alex Hutchison’s dulcet tones pointing out some changes to gameplay that captivated viewers may have overlooked....

But now more images and convincing details have arrived, confirming that Assassin’s Creed 4 will indeed be set in the Caribbean Sea circa 1715. The new images comes courtesy of Kotaku, and is once again drawn from the promotional poster leaked previously. According to whoever has their hands on the Black Flag poster, the reverse side of it doesn’t just feature an indication of the setting, but a full-blown map of the Caribbean Sea, a confirmed time period, and multiple locations marked for specific significance to the Assassin Order....

Earlier this month we pointed out that international retailers leaked the existence of Assassin’s Creed Revelations: Ottoman Edition, before pulling the info from their websites. Not only do we now have the box art for the re-release, but also the release date of March 30th in the U.K. for a suggested retail price between £30 and £40. Gamers in other territories shouldn’t be too disappointed about not being able to purchase the Ottoman Edition, since it’s very possible Ubisoft will release another special edition for the rest of us....

Gameplay footage demoed during the Xbox presentation this afternoon confirmed that Unity will offer players a chance to team up with up to three friends for a full co-op narrative experience. The co-op portion of the demo started off normally enough, with two assassin’s stealthing into a fancy French mansion and taking out several enemies inside the building. Things got a little more interesting when the assassin’s enter a different room and meet up with two buddies....
